Marvelous Day In Melksham

A mother and son from Melksham got a lovely surprise when they realised they'd both won £30,000 thanks to their lucky postcode!

Mother-of-seven Nikki and her son Aaron didn't know that they both played People's Postcode Lottery until they won the cash prize. Their postcode, SN12 7AW, was drawn as the winner of Sunday's Street Prize.

Aaron was absolutely thrilled for his mum. He said, "She has never won anything before, and with seven kids, she's never been able to buy herself the best of things. So I'm really happy for her and now it's time for her to treat herself."

The lorry driver can't wait to spoil his partner and children this Christmas. He added, "We are going to give the kids an amazing time this year. Winning this money also means we don't need to save up for a holiday next year, we can just book it and go."

Winning has been an overwhelming experience for Nikki, who works in a local factory. She said, "I wasn't expecting to win this much. It was really nice for me and my son to win together. We're not usually this lucky!

"I'm going to buy a new car, I'm 100% sure of that. I really need a reliable car for getting the kids to school and then getting to work every day."

Andrew is another big winner. He moved house over a year ago, but continued to play with his old postcode.

Andrew said, "I just decided at the time to stick with my original postcode - and I'm glad I did! I've had a few £10 wins, but this is the most money I've ever won. I'm going to invest most of it, but I've never been on a really big holiday before. I'm going to go somewhere hot like the Carribean."

A fourth winner on the street was unavailable to collect their cheque from Street Prize Presenter Danyl Johnson, but their winnings will be transferred directly into their bank account.

Danyl said, "I just love the fact that families can win together and neighbours can win together. That's what is so amazing about People's Postcode Lottery. Congratulations to all the winners in Melksham!"

To date, more than £246 Million has been raised by players of People's Postcode Lottery for over 3,000 good causes across Great Britain and internationally.

A local cause near Melksham which has received support from players is Devizes in Bloom. The group was awarded £1,000 this year to fund new equipment for volunteers cleaning up the community.

A happy couple in Barrow Hill also picked up a £30,000 cheque, as postcode S43 2NJ was drawn as the winner of Saturday's Street Prize.
