Girlguiding helps girls across Great Britain make a positive difference in their communities
August 2nd, 2016
Girlguiding is helping half a million girls across Great Britain to discover and grow.
Girlguiding encourages girls to make a positive difference in their local community, be happy, keep safe, build supportive friendships, fulfil their potential, and have lots of fun along the way. This is only made possible with the invaluable support of 100,000 volunteers and funding from players.
Last year, the charity launched their brand new strategy titled Being our Best - committing that by 2020 they will empower more girls and help them find their voices. This will be achieved through high-quality, girl-led programmes which will be delivered by inspirational leaders. So far in 2016, Girlguiding have delivered a host of exciting projects and events, including:
- Reaching more people in local communities and helping more girls start their guiding adventure by holding Welcome to Guiding events across the country.
- Strengthening their national youth panel, Advocate, a group of Girlguiding members aged 14 to 25 who direct national research, advocacy and campaigning work.
- Equipping volunteers with high-quality training to ensure they are giving girls in guiding the very best experience.
Chief Guide Valerie Le Vaillant said, "We're truly grateful to players of People's Postcode Lottery for their fantastic support of Girlguiding. The generosity of players enables us to reach more girls and let them join the wonderful guiding journey of fun, friendship, adventure and empowerment.
"I continue to be inspired by the impact that guiding has on girls of all ages: developing their self-confidence, broadening their horizons and supporting them to reach their full potential."
The support of players of People's Postcode Lottery is helping Girlguiding to get better and better at what they do for girls - ensuring that more girls from all backgrounds benefit from what they do, and listening to girls and promoting their views.
