January 2nd, 2014
The Science Museum Group has been awarded £200,000 from players of People's Postcode Lottery, marking the start of a special long term relationship between the two organisations. This funding will back exciting new projects over the coming years, helping to bring exciting contemporary science events and exhibitions to the public.
The Science Museum Group was founded in 1851 and is dedicated to the history and practice of science, medicine, technology, industry and media. It consists of five museums - London Science Museum, the Museum of Science and Industry, the National Media Museum and the National Railway Museums in York and Shildon.
Ian Blatchford, Director of the Science Museum Group, said, "Regular donor income plays a crucial role in helping the Science Museum Group to inspire visitors about the central role science plays in all of our lives. We are very grateful to players of People's Postcode Lottery for their support, which will make an important contribution to our future exhibitions programme at the Science Museum."
Kate Pearson, Deputy Head of Charities at People's Postcode Lottery, is also very excited about this new partnership. "We are delighted that players of People's Postcode Lottery are able to support the Science Museum Group," she said. "The funding will enable not only players of the lottery, but also those in the wider community, to enjoy all of the exciting events that the Science Museum have on offer."Return to news archive
