Water For Life

Player-supported charity WaterAid have brought life-saving clean water to millions of people around the world
Our players have helped WaterAid transform the lives of millions of people around the world

Since 2013, players of People's Postcode Lottery have supported the work of WaterAid. Thanks to this funding, millions of lives have been transformed, and communities have been provided with access to clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene.

WaterAid have been able to raise their collective voice loudly across the world. They've demanded action and accountability from governments and businesses, linking communities to decision-makers, rallying support from organisations, collaborating across the sector, and changing attitudes and behaviours.

Today, millions of people have their access denied to life-saving clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene because of where they live, who they are, or how much money they have.

Lacking access to these human rights stops people having an equal chance to be healthy, educated and financially secure. As we approach World Water Day on 22nd March, thousands of people across the UK have been marching in solidarity with the one-in-nine who have to walk for water every day.

World Water Day gives us a chance to focus on this truly global crisis. The progress made globally since 2000, delivering clean water to 1.5 billion people, is sadly now under threat as demands on the world's water resources continue to grow. WaterAid will be releasing a new report for World Water Day that explores the hidden quantities of water used in industry across the world to make so many of the products (including food) we use every day - and the impact this is having on people's access to water.

When a community gets clean water for the first time, it creates a powerful ripple, saving lives and improving people's health, education and livelihoods. It's the sort of change that sticks for good.
