Happy, Healthy Communities

The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) is a community volunteering charity. In 2019, TCV celebrates the 60th anniversary of bringing people together to create, improve and care for green spaces.

From local parks and community gardens to local nature reserves and sites of special scientific interest. From school grounds and hospital grounds to waterways, wetlands and woodlands - TCV connects people to the green spaces that form a vital part of any healthy, happy community.

Our players have raised an amazing £925,000 for TCV. The charity has been busy putting it to good use, delivering even more for people and green spaces across the country.

Delivering Green Spaces

This vital support has helped their volunteers to enjoy an even better experience with TCV. Player funding has provided free memberships to over 1,000 community network groups helping them to thrive in their local communities. It's also helping to increase the learning and skills of their volunteers, leading to an improvement in local green spaces and benefits in the community where they volunteer.

One of TCV's proudest achievements has been pioneering volunteering in green spaces. This has led to positive effects on physical and mental health, and the creation of their first Green Gym 20 years ago. The charity are now spreading this message to more commissioners and increasing their ability to evidence the health benefits. Player support has meant that they were able to setup two new Green Gyms in 2018, helping communities to improve their health whilst improving local spaces.

Funding from our players has also provided TCV with the opportunity to explore the development needs of their people. They've been able to provide training to increase practical conservation skills and leadership of projects and teams - leading to a better experience for their volunteers. 

Players of People's Postcode Lottery are helping TCV to massively spread awareness and protection of our environments, improve people's health and wellbeing, encourage learning and skills, and crucially help communities to thrive.
