Shining A Spotlight

This month, player-supported charity Place2Be is celebrating Children's Mental Health Week
Our players have raised an amazing £600,000 for Place2Be, helping to improve the emotional wellbeing of children

For the last 25 years, Place2Be has been working in schools to improve the emotional wellbeing of children and young people. It believes that no child should have to face mental health problems alone.

Place2Be is the UK's leading provider of school-based children's mental health services. It aims to support children early on to equip them with the skills to cope with life's challenges, enabling them to focus on their schoolwork and realise their full potential.

In the past year, Place2Be has worked with over 600 schools across the UK to provide support and training for tens of thousands of children, parents and teachers.

Support from players of People's Postcode Lottery is helping Place2Be to develop and grow its services so that more children and young people have access to vital mental health support in the safe space of their school. This year marks £600,000 of support from our players, which has been transformational in enabling it to meet the growing need for services.

A service user of Place2Be said, "Place2Be is a very supportive and reassuring place for people who have serious issues to find their voice. It helps them grow stronger"

Children's Mental Health Week

This week, Place2Be is calling on everyone to get involved, spread the word and shine a spotlight on the importance of children and young people's mental health. This year's Children's Mental Health Week theme is Find Your Brave.

Life often throws challenges our way. Bravery isn't about coping alone or holding things in. It's about finding positive ways to deal with things that might be difficult, overcoming physical and mental challenges and looking after yourself. We all have times when we need to Find our Brave.

Place2Be is calling on as many people as possible to get involved, and is providing:

  • free resources and activities for primary and secondary schools,
  • top tips for parents and carers,
  • a fundraising guide, and
  • a social media toolkit to help spread the word of #ChildrensMentalHealthWeek.

Place2Be has the potential to reach thousands of children, young people and families with its vital message.
