There were smiles aplenty in Perth after one lucky player scooped £50,000, thanks to People's Postcode Lottery.
The Glasgow Road resident, who plays with postcode PH2 0LU, won a whopping £25,000 for each of his tickets. Richard Anderson was extremely surprised to see the team from People's Postcode Lottery on his doorstep.
"I'm in shock," he said. "I've never won anything before."
HGV driver Richard, who plays with two tickets, was joined by his partner Marie when he was presented with his cheque. "We've got five children and five grandchildren between us, so lots of people to treat," he said. "I can't wait to tell the rest of the family. We're all going to get together for a takeaway later so they can shout as much as they like."
Perth resident Richard is hoping to visit a different Perth with his winnings, as his sister and brother live in Australia. "This money will make it so much easier for us to visit Perth, Australia," he said. "We'd like to arrange a trip for next year. I need to get on Skype to let them know."
Prize Presenter Judie McCourt said, "Richard was so excited when he found out how much he won. I was dancing in the street with him and Marie. I really hope they enjoy spending their winnings."
There was one other winner in the postcode who won £25,000 and the keys to a new BMW. The winner was unavailable to receive their prize today, but their winnings will be transferred directly into their bank account and arrangements will be made to deliver their new car.
To date, more than £175 Million has been raised by players of People's Postcode Lottery for over 2,800 good causes across Great Britain and internationally.
A project near Perth that has received support from players is RSPB Scotland, which was awarded £19,896 last year for the Celebrating Nature with Schools community engagement programme.
There have been plenty of winners recently, as two Altrincham neighbours won £30,000 each, one lucky winner in Sutton Coldfield also scooped £30,000 in one of our Street Prizes, West Bromwich players won the Dream Holiday prize, and hundreds of lucky East Devon players shared a whopping £3 Million prize pot!
