£30,000 Thrills In Tetsworth

Five neighbours in Tetsworth have been left in a festive mood after learning they've each landed a £30,000 cash prize with People's Postcode Lottery. The windfall comes after OX9 7AD was announced as a winner of today's #30KADAY Street Prize. 

Family First

Among our lucky winners was Emma. After Street Prize Presenter Danyl Johnson had revealed her wonderful cheque during a video call, the mum-of-three said, "It was a bit overwhelming! I'm not going to lie! It was a real shock."

The self-employed agricultural worker wasn't sure what she might do with the money at first. She added, "I'm not very good at spending! How often do you have £30,000 in the bank?" But then she remembered about the holiday she'd booked in 2022. She said, "We're going to Cyprus next year. This means that when we go we can spend some money and do what we want to do there. To be able to go away and not have to worry about anything will be amazing."

Emma's first thoughts were for her family, though. She said, "I've got two children on the spectrum and, due to COVID, the NHS can have long waiting times for the children to be seen. The most important thing for me is to get them the help they need and them to get things put in place for them." With Christmas around the corner, Emma planned to treat her spouse as well. She said, "My husband wants a bait boat for fishing. He dropped it into conversation that I should buy that for Christmas now, so he'll definitely get something towards it!"

When asked if she would buy anything for herself, Emma said, "I'll treat myself to a Fortnum & Mason Christmas hamper - that's something I'd would definitely not do normally!"

Christmas Treats

Amazingly, Emma's mother-in-law, Lynn, was another Street Prize winner. She was thrilled with her £30,000 cheque from Danyl and knew immediately how she would spend it. She said, "I might go on holiday, somewhere hot and sunny, and have a nice Christmas as well!"

Along with treats for her family, Lynn also had her eye on something special for herself. She said, "I might splurge out and get myself a pair of Fairfax & Favor boots. And a matching handbag!"

Danyl Johnson sent his best wishes to all of today's winners. He said, "A huge congratulations to our winners in Tetsworth, what a great early Christmas present for them! I hope they have fun with the winnings and enjoy the rest of the festive season as well!"

Charities Win Too

Today's prize is part of a draw promoted on behalf of Postcode Education Trust. This trust supports organisations, including AfriKids, War Child and Book Aid International which provide education, particularly in emergency situations, with regular grant funding.
