A councillor in the Scottish Highlands, who is one of three lucky Dingwall winners of People's Postcode Lottery, has scooped an amazing £50,000 prize.
Margaret Paterson's postcode IV15 9LF was drawn as a Saturday Street Prize winner this weekend. She is one of three winning Craig Road residents. The councillor found out she'd won the five-figured sum while on holiday. Her son Ross was at home to receive the cheque on her behalf.
After hearing the good news, Margaret said, "I am over the moon to win People's Postcode Lottery. I had considered cancelling my tickets until my son Ross told me that I would regret it. I am so glad that I listened to him!
"I have nine precious children, five girls and four boys, who will each get a nice wee present. And my house needs re-wired, so I can now get an electrician round to sort this out."
Each winning Street Prize ticket is worth £25,000. As Margaret played with two tickets, she will receive £50,000. The other two Craig Road winners will receive £25,000 each.
As a charity lottery, People's Postcode Lottery players have raised over £104.2 Million for good causes across Great Britain and internationally.
As a supported charity, Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres have received over £4.2 Million from players to date. People's Postcode Lottery ambassador Judie McCourt visited the centre in Inverness to meet with Carole Bridge from the charity.
Judie said, "It was lovely to visit the Highlands and to walk around the Maggie's centre in Inverness. It's wonderful that players of People's Postcode Lottery are helping to create such amazing spaces for cancer patients and their families to use during a difficult time in their lives.”
