Highlight For Humberstone

18 December 2021 - LE5 1AF - Humberstone - £30,000
Jeff has an early Christmas surprise for some lucky neighbours in Humberstone

With only seven sleeps to go, Christmas has come early for seven Humberstone residents. Thanks to their lucky postcode, LE5 1AF, each of them has landed a fantastic £30,000 cheque in today's Street Prize.

These prizes are part of our special #30KADAY celebrations in which one postcode is drawn every day in December's draws, and every ticket in that postcode wins a £30,000 Street Prize.

Dream Come True

Tina found out she'd won during a video call with Street Prize Presenter Jeff Brazier. As he revealed her big cheque, she exclaimed, "Oh wow! Oh my God! I don't know what to say. You always dream about these things, but this is absolutely life-changing money, it really is. I've never had that much money in my life."

As the news began to sink in, Tina thought the money would be a great help for her family. She said, "I've got three grown-up children and I've got six grandchildren. My son is getting married next year so it will help with that.

"My partner is ready to retire, he's only got one more year to go. There's just so much you can do with it. And obviously it's Christmas, so it'll be lovely time. It'll be one big Christmas, I think! Definitely!"

A new hobby might be on the cards, too. Tina said, "I've always wanted to do a bit of pottery, so if some if it went towards that, that would be ideal. I'm not saying I'd be any good at it, but I'd like to do it!"

With six of her neighbours also winning, Tina was thrilled for her neighbourhood. She said, "We're like a little community here, we all know each other. I'm sure they'll be just as happy as me!"

Dental Plans

Tina's neighbour Roger was with his daughter Kirsty when Jeff unveiled his £30,000 prize. After seeing his cheque, he exclaimed, "I feel that's just perfect! It'll be a good Christmas!"

When asked how he might spend his windfall, Roger burst into a tune and sang, "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth!" After laughing, the retired gardener said that a dentist visit was definitely something he wanted to do. He added, "They're not cheap you know, I think we can go there now. That's a good start anyway."

The dad-of-four also planned to treat his family and hoped to get some home renovations done. He said, "I could do with a new cooker and get the kitchen redecorated. It comes at the best time ever. I've just retired. It's unbelievable, I'll never have a worry again!"

That'll Do

Ritchie was the third of today's seven super winners. When he saw his bumper cheque, he clapped and cheered and said, "That'll do before Christmas, thank you very much! Absolutely brilliant, I can do quite a bit with that."

The HGV driver planned to treat his son with the money, and he would also be the first person he'd tell about his windfall. He added, "He'll probably fall through the floor like I did!"

Ritchie will also donate some of his winnings to good causes. He said, "I can give a little bit of it to charity. I donate to the RSPCA and things like that, and I also donate a bit to causes for blind kids and deaf kids, so I can give a bit to that as well."

When asked how he might celebrate his good fortune, Ritchie knew immediately what he'd do. He said, "I think a drink with a few friends will be on the horizon, if we're able to."

Holiday Home

Natalie was another lucky neighbour to scoop our Street Prize. She cheered on seeing her £30,000 cheque, and exclaimed, "I can't believe it!"

With this windfall, Natalie could fulfil a long-time wish. She said, "I've been thinking of buying a holiday home by the seaside where the kids and grandkids can come, so that might be a plan now! It's something I've wanted for a long, long time. I can't wait."

Natalie, who works at a local train station, added that along with a new boiler she was hoping to use some of her prize money for her future. She said, "I'm retiring from work soon so this will help." Her first thoughts were for her two daughters and four grandchildren, however, as the win has come at the perfect time. She said, "We'll have a very good Christmas!"

Once-In-A-Lifetime Thing

Garry couldn't believe his eyes when Jeff revealed his cheque. He exclaimed, "What a lovely Christmas present that is! We've never won anything in our lives, it's a once-in-a-lifetime thing."

He was so floored by his windfall that he wasn't sure how he might spend it. He said, "We have no idea! I'll spend some on my wife, so she'll have half and then I don't know what we'll do!

"My wife said she's going to get AstroTurf on the lawn, so we don't need to mow it anymore."

Though he did have an idea for a small treat for himself. He said, "First thing will be a bottle of whisky tomorrow!"

Lovely Surprise

Ibrahim and his partner Sue were thrilled with their £30,000 win. On seeing what was written on their cheque, the couple laughed with joy. Sue said, "That's lovely! Brilliant."

Their much-loved dog died recently, and Sue thought they might get another pet, but the pair didn't have any definite spending plans. Sue said, "I haven't really thought about what I'll do with it. In the future we can go on nice holidays, maybe."

They would certainly celebrate. Sue turned to Ibrahim and said, "He can go out and buy a bottle of champagne tonight!"

Jeff Brazier sent his best wishes to all our winners and said, "A massive congratulations to our winners in Humberstone today, I couldn't be more pleased for them! It was so nice to present them with this prize and hear about the lovely neighbourhood. I'm sure they'll all have a fantastic time with the winnings, especially with Christmas around the corner!"
