A care worker is one of ten delighted players in Street having a Christmas they'll never forget after winning a share of £650,000.
Their postcode, BA16 0QJ, was announced as a Christmas Day winner with People's Postcode Lottery as part of our month of #50KADAY Street Prizes.
Eight of the neighbours won £50,000 each, with a ninth doubling their prize to £100,000 thanks to playing with two tickets. The final winner, who has three tickets, trebled their windfall to £150,000!
Care worker Jane scooped a superb cheque for £50,000, finding out how much she'd won over video call with Street Prize Presenter Matt Johnson.
Jane said, "That's amazing, thank you so much. I've had a couple of years where I've had a pretty rough time so this means everything. I'd have been chuffed with £1,000.
"I feel like I'm in a bit of a dream at the moment because good things don't always happen to me but they do today!"
With five children and seven grandchildren, Jane said the win was helping make sure Christmas was "brilliant".
Little Log Cabin
Jane added, "Everybody has had a pretty tough year so this is amazing. I'm overwhelmed. Two of my daughters are here and they're all in tears. We've got some bucks fizz to celebrate!"
Jane knows the first thing she's going to do with the money and said, "I want a little log cabin at the bottom of the garden. I like to do reiki so I'd like to go down there and have a bit of relaxation and do my reiki - channel all the good energy in and get rid of the bad.
"This is just the pot of gold at the end of the tunnel."
Matt Johnson congratulated the Street winners, saying, "It was my pleasure to meet Jane and hand over a special Christmas present in the form of a lovely big cheque. I'm sure our other lucky winners in Street will be just as delighted as she is."
Supporting Good Causes
Today's prize is part of a draw promoted by Ellen MacArthur Foundation which has received over £3.3 Million from our players. This funding is helping the charity's mission to accelerate the transition to a circular economy.
Local charities close to the winners have also been supported by players, including Yeovil Rivers Community Trust. Earlier this year it was awarded £6,000 to increase biodiversity as part of the Dodham Brook restoration at Yeovil Country Park.
At People's Postcode Lottery, 32% of the ticket price goes directly to Charities so playing supports so many special projects. Our wonderful players have raised more than £600 Million for over 8,500 good causes around the world.
