There are celebrations aplenty in Beck Row as four neighbours have won a whopping £30,000 each. The win came thanks to their postcode, IP28 8DB, being announced in today's Street Prize.
Joan, a retired Factory Worker, couldn't believe it when she found out how much she had won. She said, "It was such a huge surprise! I thought it might be more than £10, but I never imagined it would be this much. I was so happy I was dancing around - it was like having a party in my house! I'm so pleased for the other winners too, they're both lovely and very friendly so I'm chuffed for them."
Joan has four children and 14 grandchildren, so she has a lot of people to treat with the win. "All of the children will definitely be getting something. That's the easiest part to decide as I still can't work out what to get for myself. I love gardening so I'll probably get myself a new lawn. I might even hire someone to cut it!"
Roxanne, a General Assistant at a local hotel, also scooped £30,000. She was shaking and crying so much after receiving her cheque that her fiancé Carl had to pick her up! "I'm absolutely elated - I keep bursting into tears! I have to work a night shift tonight but I have a feeling I'll spend most of the evening phoning everyone I know."
Roxanne and Carl are getting married next year and the prize money will help them plan their dream wedding. Roxanne said, "Having the wedding taken care of is a huge weight off our shoulders. We're used to having to constantly save so we can finally relax. We're planning a holiday to Amsterdam next month as a joint birthday and anniversary celebration - it will be extra special now!"
Pamela, another winner, was over the moon. She said,"I've wanted a new kitchen for over 30 years so this is a dream come true! My family are thrilled for me - I’ve never won money like this before!"
People's Postcode Lottery Presenter Jeff Brazier handed the cheques to the lucky winners. He said, "It's been a lovely day handing out prizes in Lamble Close. It was great to see everyone's reactions when they found out how much they had won. I hope they all enjoy spending their prize money, and it sounds like there's going to be some happy family members too!"
With a minimum of 32% of the ticket price going to charity, players of People's Postcode Lottery have now raised £382 Million for good causes. This prize was part of a draw promoted by PDSA.
A local charity close to the winners that has benefited from funding is Aspect Living Foundation. The group received £20,000 last year to run a Suffolk Meals on Wheels service for elderly and vulnerable people.
There were plenty of smiles elsewhere this weekend too, as five neighbours scooped Sunday's Street Prize.
