Whoopee For Old Windsor
It will be a November to remember for seven Old Windsor residents who have each scooped an incredible £30,000 cheque. The windfall arrived for the lucky neighbours after their postcode, SL4 2QS, was announced as the winner of today's £30,000 Street Prize.
Street Prize Presenter Jeff Brazier revealed their cheques over a video call.
Quite The Week
Delighted winner Sharon was overcome with emotion when Jeff revealed her cheque. She exclaimed, "Oh my God, that's amazing! This is going to make such a difference." Sharon was joined by two of her daughters and young grandson when she received the call. However, her lottery win wasn't the only exciting news for the family. Sharon explained, "I have seven grandsons, but my first granddaughter is due tomorrow! It's my birthday next week, too, so it will be quite the week!"
With a big family, Sharon knows a lot of her winnings will go towards treating them. She added, "I'm going to treat the family first. It's been tough not seeing everyone, but we've supported each other the best we can.
"I'd love to take the whole family away on holiday when we can. Maybe get a villa somewhere hot and by the beach. We like Cyprus so that would be phenomenal. And Christmas is just going to be amazing this year!"
When asked how she would celebrate, Sharon said, "I might pay for everyone to get a takeaway and we will toast each other over Facetime! Honestly this is just amazing. I never thought in a million years you'd be giving me a cheque for £30,000."
Neighbour Alexa was another of our happy £30,000 winners. Alexa wasn't able to celebrate her recent birthday due to lockdown, so this win has helped make up for it. She exclaimed, "That is lovely! Thank you very much. That is just what I need! This has cheered me up wonderfully. It's really taken a weight off me."
Alexa was also happy to hear that six of her neighbours had won too. She said, "It's been nice hearing people win, especially this year with all the bad news. We're a good community. We've connected a lot this year. We've had a lot of people helping us, like leaving things at the door. It's been lovely so it's well deserved for everyone."
Alexa and her husband David plan to spend their winnings on fixing things and planning a trip away. Alexa said, "We usually go down to Devon or Cornwall but haven't been able to so we will definitely get something sorted for next year. David needs his motorbike fixed, too. We have a few bikes and one is in bits so it would be nice to get that fixed."
When asked how they would celebrate, Alexa said, "Well we can't go out so we will have a cup of tea! I might even get a bottle of prosecco. I'm so excited to phone people and tell them."
Jeff Brazier said, "A big congratulations to our Old Windsor winners. It was lovely to virtually meet them and give them some good news. It sounds like there are some nice holidays to plan, so hopefully the win has given them something to look forward to and celebrate."
