A lucky Langford resident has started the day with an amazing surprise after netting a £30,000 cheque all thanks to his postcode. Tom won the cash when BS40 5DD was announced as a winner with People's Postcode Lottery today.
Tom learned of his windfall during a video call with Street Prize Presenter Matt Johnson. As a golden envelope was opened to reveal his prize cheque, Tom exclaimed, "Wow, that's amazing!" He was joined on the call by his wife, Sarah, who added, "Oh my goodness, I was not expecting that!"
The parents-of-two had a few ideas on how to spend their winnings and Sarah suggested, "Probably a kitchen, we've been saving for a kitchen for a few years. We'll mount a little plaque up in the corner, 'Thanks to Postcode Lottery'."
The couple also hoped to plan a big holiday for the future with a milestone birthday coming up in the next few years, Sarah added, "We've got our 40th coming up in the next few years. We've always talked about having a 10-year-wedding anniversary and a 40th birthday family holiday, so this will be amazing."
When asked where they might go for the trip, the couple had a few ideas. Tom suggested, "We mentioned taking the kids to Disney." Sarah said, "I'd like to take the kids to South Africa." Tom smiled and added, "Maybe go on a safari!"
The couple were looking forward to treating their daughters with their winnings and also had a few small treats in mind for themselves. Tom said, "I might buy a new golf club, a new driver." Sarah then joked, "I will not be buying anything golf-related, a nice bottle of gin probably!"
Matt Johnson sent his well-wishes to the couple after the call. He added, "I'm delighted for our winner in Langford today. I hope they enjoy spending the win and treat themselves with the prize money."
Every day throughout our July draws one postcode will be announced as a £30,000 Street Prize winner. Every player in that lucky postcode will win £30,000 for every ticket they play.
