Happy In Heywood

A resident in Heywood welcomed a £30,000 windfall today all thanks to playing People's Postcode Lottery. Karen, an NHS administrator, won the cash when her postcode, OL10 1RJ, was announced as the winner of our #30KADAY Street Prize.

On Cloud Nine

Lucky Karen was joined by husband Vinnie when she found out how much she'd won during a video call with Street Prize Presenter Judie McCourt. On seeing her prize, Karen screamed out, "Oh, amazing - a very nice start to the day!

"In these times where it's gloomy and miserable and there's not a lot of nice things going on, this has just lifted me onto cloud nine and I've not been in a cloud nine place for a while."

With two daughters and four grandchildren, Karen plans to use the money to spend quality time with the family. She said, "I'm just waiting on restrictions being lifted so we can have a nice holiday with our daughters and grandchildren. 

"I work for the NHS so my work has been carrying on as usual, but it has been difficult."

Vinnie added, "We were meant to go to Tenerife last Easter but that got cancelled so we'll probably look to do that, but this time upgrade our hotel and have us all together. We're not extravagant people so a nice family holiday will do us."

Asked how she'd celebrate, Karen said, "Oh I think I'll have some bubbly - I might even have a bar of chocolate!"

After the call Judie McCourt said, "What fabulous news for Karen and Vinnie - I'm over the moon for them and hope it's not too long before they can have a well-deserved family break in the sunshine!"
