Car Prize
Reading, Steady, Go
Six Reading neighbours in postcode RG30 6DT got a great start to the New Year in the first BMW and £25,000 prize of 2018.
Trevor was over the moon with his £25,000 win. "It's absolutely fantastic, it's going to make so much difference to us, our life will be a lot easier over the next few years. It's amazing, my neighbour has won as well, it'll bring such a great feeling to the road – people don't speak as much these days, neighbours don't know each other like they used to, so it'll really bring the community together."
Trevor also landed the keys to a brand new BMW, and said, "On top of winning the money, this is just unbelievable!"
Roger, a retired HGV mechanic, said, "I only started playing in August this year as I'd seen the TV advert and thought it would be worth a go. And it's paid off!"
Karen is hoping to use her winnings to visit far-flung family members. She said, "I'd love to take my kids to Australia as they have relatives there who they've never met. My car is on its last legs as well, so I may look into replacing that, but at the moment, I'm still in shock, it doesn't feel real!"
Martyn, a building site manager, said, "When I found out I'd won, I was totally gobsmacked! My daughter is due to give birth in April so this has come at a really good time. I've already had lots of people come up to me to ask me about my win and I've told them the only way it can be them next time is if they buy a ticket!"
Street Prize Presenter Danyl Johnson knocked at their doors with cheques for £25,000. He said, "What a great prize for our Reading players, just a few days after Christmas! With over £130 Million in prizes to be won in 2018, why not enter the next draw with your postcode?"
Players have raised more than £255 Million to date for good causes across Great Britain and internationally.
A nearby cause that has received support from players is Smart Works Reading, which was awarded £14,500 to help over 350 women with interview coaching and confidence building.
There were also festive winners elsewhere, as happy players picked up £30,000 per ticket in both Saturday's Street Prize and Sunday's Street Prize, and one lucky winner scooped £10,000 in holiday vouchers as well as £4,000 in spending money thanks to the Dream Holiday Prize.
