Street Prize

Lucky Leicester

11 March - LE4 2BE - Leicester - £30,000

One lucky Leicester resident has a lot to celebrate this week after winning £30,000 with People's Postcode Lottery.

Jayne May Harris, who plays with postcode LE4 2BE, was shocked when Street Prize Presenter Jeff Brazier arrived at her door with a golden envelope.

"This was such a big shock," she said. "My husband, Dave, had no idea I had won so I had to phone him to come home straight away. Luckily, he only works up the road."

The money has come at a perfect time for Jayne and her family. "We were literally just discussing getting a loan for some extensive repair work in the house," she said. "Our roof has been leaking which has caused various other problems. We were hoping to borrow £7,000 but we've obviously won a lot more than that!"

With six children and four grandchildren to spoil, stay-at-home mum Jayne has a few ideas how to spend the money. "It's a massive amount to win so I'd like to get the most out of it. I'd love to get a family holiday organised. My daughter Katie may be moving abroad soon so this means we'll be able to visit her."

Jeff Brazier said, "It was a real pleasure meeting Jayne today and presenting her with her £30,000 cheque. Sign up to play and I could be knocking on your door very soon!"

A minimum of 30% of the ticket price goes directly to charities. Players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised more than £182 Million to date for good causes across Great Britain and internationally.

A project near Leicester that has received support from players is Takeover Radio Children's Media Trust. The trust was awarded £7,500 for their Sports Scene project last year.

Jayne wasn't this weekend's only big winner - two York residents also scooped £30,000 prizes on Sunday.
