Good News For Glanamman
Seven neighbours from a street in Glanamman have been left stunned after learning they've each won £30,000 thanks to their postcode. What a way to supercharge your Sunday! The cash prizes came after SA18 2BE was announced as a winner of today's £30,000 Street Prize.
Among today's winners was Byron, who was delighted when Street Prize Presenter Matt Johnson unveiled his £30,000 cheque. On seeing all those zeros Byron's wife, Delith, jumped up and down with excitement and exclaimed, "I was only expecting a thousand! Oh my goodness, diolch yn fawr [thank you very much]! I can't even breathe, let alone speak, and that's unusual from me!"
When asked how the pair would spend the money, Delith said, "I can't begin to tell you. I'll get some new glasses for a start." Byron was quick to add, "I might get a new set of bowls."
Byron wasn't going to let this good news interrupt his usual routine, and still planned to play his usual game of bowls with friends at the local club, something he's done for 30 years.
When asked how the couple would celebrate tonight, Delith said, "I've got Prosecco in the fridge if anybody wants some!"
The couple are keen to help their family with their business ventures. Daughter Helen opened a nail bar just before Christmas, and their eldest grandson has also opened a barbershop in a neighbouring village. We asked Helen what that would mean to her, and she said, "That would be wonderful and very much appreciated, obviously." On her mum's reaction, she said, "I'm amazed my mum didn't cry! She cries at everything."
The couple were pleased to be helping local charities and good causes and plan to continue playing People's Postcode Lottery. Delith said, "It's nice to know that you can help somebody, especially with how the world is at the moment."
Matt Johnson presented our winners with their cheques and shared his congratulations. He said, "I'm delighted for all of our winners in Glanamman today. I hope they enjoy spending the win and treat themselves with the prize money."
