Celebrations In Salford

23 February 2021 - M6 5RD - Salford - £30,000
Today's £30,000 Street Prizes are going to two lucky winners in Salford

Two lucky players from Salford are having a terrific Tuesday after M6 5RD was announced as the winning postcode in today's Street Prize. In February's draws, our #30KADAY Street Prize means one postcode is revealed as a winner every single day. All players in the winning postcode receive £30,000 for every ticket they hold.

Means So Much

Mum-of-two Dawn, who is also a key worker, has described crying "happy tears" after discovering she'd won £30,000. A second winner playing with two tickets scooped £60,000.

Dawn, who works as a dispensing optician, was on a break at work when she received a video call from Street Prize Presenter Jeff Brazier.

On seeing her cheque, Dawn got emotional and said, "Wow, that's a lot of money that I've never seen before. That's gonna change my life, honestly. These are happy tears!

"My whole family have had a really tough time over the last six months, my dad and my older brother have both been made redundant because of COVID so for once I'll be able to help them instead of them helping me. You have no idea how much that means to me."

Asked if she'd treat herself, Dawn, who has recently gone back to university alongside working full time, said, "I'm going to buy a dishwasher! I’m not a material person and I just want the people around me to be happy and to give my girls everything they deserve.

"I think I can do that now and this'll just help set us up. I never thought I’d be able to save for a deposit for a house but this could be it now, which is our future really."

"I never win anything in life, ever, so I don't feel like a lucky person. I work hard and then just, wow, this has happened.

"I've got to get my head straight now and go out and serve customers and patients - I'm not sure how I'm going to do it! I think I'll go out and treat myself to the £5 bottle of amaretto that I like tonight though."

After presenting Dawn with her prize, Jeff Brazier said, "Delivering good news to lovely winners like Dawn is definitely one of the best things about my job. I'm chuffed to bits to hear how it'll help set her and her girls up - congratulations again."

Playing For Good Causes

Today's prize is part of a draw promoted by Postcode Justice Trust, which supports organisations including Amnesty International, Helen Bamber Foundation and Thomson Reuters Foundation with regular grant funding.

With 32% of the ticket price going to charities and good causes, players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised more than £600 Million for over 8,500 deserving causes and projects across Great Britain and around the world.

Dawn signed up to play because of the charities that are supported and said, "I know something is going to good causes even if I don't win."

Mustard Tree is one good cause close to Dawn that players have helped support. Last year it received £20,000 to help people learn new skills, find work and secure somewhere to live.
