Glory For Gainsborough
Two lucky Gainsborough neighbours landed £30,000 each this weekend. The winners, who play with the postcode DN21 4BX, won the first Street Prize of the weekend today.
Lilian Parker is still in shock over her win. "When I found out I'd won, I was expecting £1,000, which I was excited enough about - so when I pulled out the cheque and it said £30,000, I couldn't believe it!
"I called my husband to tell him and he thought I was joking – he called me back to make sure it was real.
"I haven't had much of a chance to think about what I'll do with the money, but it will be lovely to be able to treat my nieces and nephews and to not have to worry about bills and things like that. I'm sure my husband and I will treat ourselves to something nice too – maybe a new car."
There was one other £30,000 winner on the street who was unavailable to receive their cheque, but their winnings will be deposited directly into their bank account.
Street Prize Presenter Danyl Johnson said, "As always, it has been fantastic to surprise a lucky winner with her cheque. Playing People's Postcode Lottery helps so many charities, which is a great reason to play, and of course you could win too. With prizes every day we could be visiting your postcode very soon."
To date, more than £168 Million has been raised by players of People's Postcode Lottery for over 2,800 good causes across Great Britain and internationally.
A local project that has received support from players is Home-Start Lincolnshire, which was awarded £17,673 last year to develop gardening sessions for children and families.
