Postcode Millions
Northwich Neighbours Win Big
Two lucky players from Northwich have scooped the lion's share of a £3 Million prize pot, walking away with cheques for a massive £400,000 each!
Players from Northwich found out last week that their postcode sector, CW8 1, was the big winner in the January Postcode Millions. It wasn't until Saturday, at a special cheque presentation held at the Mere Golf Resort and Spa, that the full winning postcode, CW8 1SG, was revealed.
The two big winners, Caroline Askew and Kim Harding, who both play with the full winning postcode, scooped the largest share of the prize pot. The event saw 185 residents in the winning postcode sector, CW8 1, share a £3 Million prize pot, with prizes ranging from £11,000 to £400,000.
Caroline Askew attended the celebration with her husband Donald. Caroline, a Teaching Assistant at Hertford High School said, "This is just amazing; this has completely secured our future."
Caroline continued, "This means my husband Donald can now retire, we can pay off the mortgage, and I would really like a new dog!"
Her husband Donald, an IT Consultant, has got his eyes on an Aston Martin, but the couple are definitely planning to spoil their two children, Will and Abbie. "Our children are dying to go to America on holiday, so a trip to Florida and California is on the cards," said Donald.
Computer Science Teacher Kim Harding was the weekend's other massive winner. Kim attended the celebration with her husband Mervyn. Kim said, "It's my son Sam's birthday tomorrow, so we'll definitely be able to celebrate in style."
She continued, "We've got a holiday booked to Canada in July to visit my sister Tracy, who I've just woken up at 2.30am to tell about my win! But I think I'll need to book another holiday for the Easter break now!"
Kim had a feeling that her luck might be in at today's event, as she had an itchy palm last night, "I googled reasons for itchy palms, and it said it could mean I was set to receive some money. I certainly turned out to be right!" said Kim.
Caroline and Kim both signed up to play People's Postcode Lottery because of all the charities that are supported, and think that anyone that isn't playing People's Postcode Lottery needs to sign up straight away.
People's Postcode Lottery ambassador Judie McCourt, who was delighted to hand out cheques to the lucky winners from Northwich, said, "This is the first time we've ever been to Northwich for a Postcode Millions, and it has been an absolutely brilliant day! We have loved seeing the reactions of all the excited winners, and I hope they enjoy treating themselves. Congratulations to all the winners."
It's not just players who win by playing People's Postcode Lottery - over £99.6 Million has been awarded to charities and good causes. The winners' celebration saw a number of supported charities in attendance, including Royal Voluntary Service, Girlguiding, Riding for the Disabled Association, Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust, Missing People and Canal & River Trust.
