A New Year Treat For Greenside

31 December - NE40 4BN - Greenside - £25,000

Two players in Greenside have a lot to celebrate this new year as they have just won big with People's Postcode Lottery. Their lucky postcode, NE40 4BN, was drawn as a winner of one of Saturday's two Street Prizes.

Dawn Hayes was delighted to be surprised at her front door by Street Prize Presenter Judie McCourt.

"It's completely surreal; I can't explain how nice it feels to have won!

"I'll be able to help my two daughters get on to the property ladder now, which is just a dream come true. Apart from that, I'm not really sure what I'll do next with the money, except to make sure I've got £10 for my next ticket!

"So much of it is going to charity, which is great. Playing means you're donating to charity and giving yourself all those chances to win at the same time, so it's win-win."

Another winner on the street who plays with six tickets won a fantastic £150,000.

Judie McCourt said, "Dawn really will start 2017 with a bang! I loved seeing her face today when I gave her the cheque and wish her all the very best."

Players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised more than £161 Million to date for charities across Great Britain and internationally.

A project near Greenside that has received support from players is Bright Futures NE, which was awarded £8,757 last year for their Community Ambassadors Project.

Dawn wasn't this weekend's only winner - Newton Tucker of Ingleby Barwick also scooped a Street Prize, Maerdy players landed the £5,000 + BMW prize, and Reedham players scooped Dream Holidays.
