Three lucky locals from Blackburn are getting into the festive spirit already after winning a share of £150,000, thanks to their postcode. The Wensley Road neighbours scooped £50,000 each after BB2 1QD was named as the winning postcode with People's Postcode Lottery today.
These prizes are part of our special #50KADAY Christmas celebration in which one postcode is revealed as a winner every day in December's draws and every ticket in that postcode picks up a whopping £50,000!
Lucky Julie found out how much she'd won over a video call with Street Prize Presenter Danyl Johnson. When her £50,000 cheque was revealed she exclaimed, "Oh my word! I never win anything! This is absolutely unbelievable."
Julie, a home-help worker, was joined by her two daughters, Jodie and Sadie, when she got the good news. Julie said, "We're going to go on a right good holiday. My husband Steve and I have been married 20 years this year, so we are going to book a dream holiday. I haven't got a clue where. We can also get Jodie driving lessons and Sadie new DJ decks! Steve is a beekeeper so I'll get him loads of bees.
"It's been such a hard year this will make such a big difference, it really will. I'm overwhelmed."
When asked how she would celebrate, Julie said, "I have a bottle of wine in the fridge on hold!"
After the video call Danyl Johnson said, "It was lovely to virtually meet Julie and give her some great news! From holidays to bees, it sounds like she will make the most of the prize money."
Good Causes Across Great Britain
Today's prize is part of a draw promoted by Greenpeace Environmental Trust. Separate from the campaigning arm of Greenpeace, the Trust invests in scientific research, investigations, community outreach and education to champion greater understanding of our planet, fund vital projects, nationally and globally, and defend people and nature.
At People's Postcode Lottery, 32% of the ticket price goes directly to Charities, and our wonderful players have raised more than £600 Million for over 8,500 good causes across Great Britain and beyond.
