Home Run For Stoke Newington

Champagne corks are popping in Stoke Newington as six neighbours celebrate their postcode, N16 6BH, winning Saturday's Street Prize.

Five of the Cazenove Road winners scooped £30,000 each while the sixth doubled their prize to a whopping £60,000 thanks to playing with two tickets.

Lucky winner Maureen was overjoyed to discover she'd won £60,000. She said, "This is just such a marvellous moment. I'm completely stunned and will definitely be celebrating with a bottle of champagne tonight. I'm going to put some of the money towards getting a degree in psychology which is something I've always wanted to do but have never been able to, so this is truly life-changing for me!"

Maureen also plans to fulfil another lifelong dream of travelling with her dad - who recently celebrated his 80th birthday - thanks to the win. She added, "My parents are from Dominica and I've never been able to visit before, so it's really special to be able to take my dad back to his home country and see where he and my mum met, especially as she's no longer with us."

Mother of four Tina was overcome with emotion when she pulled her cheque out of the golden envelope. Tina said, "Oh my god – this is brilliant! I'm going to spoil my kids rotten and I'll treat my sister and my brother and their kids too. I might even get myself a new car!

"It's great to know I've supported so many good causes by playing - getting this prize is just an added bonus!"

The four remaining winners weren't available to collect their cheques but their prizes will be paid directly into their bank accounts.

Street Prize Presenter Matt Johnson congratulated the winners. He said, "I've loved meeting Maureen and Tina today and hearing how the win will help make some of their dreams a reality - well done to them and all our other winners in Stoke Newington. You never know whose door I could be knocking on next, so make sure you're signed up to play!"

With 32% of the ticket price going to charity, players have now raised more than £301 Million for over 4,000 good causes across Great Britain and internationally. Today's £30,000 Street Prize was part of a draw promoted by The Wildlife Trusts.

One nearby charity that players have helped to support is Room to Heal. The group was awarded £15,218 last year to bring residents together by running garden workshops to revitalise green space at Mildmay Community Centre and Culpeper Community Garden.
