Christmas came early for neighbours in Nuneaton when they shared a £2 Million prize pot on Saturday.
Carl Partridge scooped an amazing £285,714 just two days after celebrating his 50th birthday. His postcode, CV11 6JQ, was drawn as the full winning postcode in December's Postcode Millions. Carl took home the lion's share of the prize money as he plays with two tickets.
"Things like this just don't happen to me," Carl said. "This is amazing and it will help me and my wife Anna to pay off the mortgage. We have been married for 25 years and we bought Anna's childhood home back in 1997 so it will be great for us to finally own it."
The Business Development Manager is a motorcycle fan. "There's a Harley Davidson bike out there with my name on it," he added. "And I think Anna and I will have to visit the USA in the near future."
Five other players living on The Long Shoot scooped £142,857 each. One of those winners was Brian Bennett, who is the creator of the Skin Sure brand which produces a cream to tackle MRSA.
"I developed the formula for the cream to help my wife Heather's skin condition on her hands and I thought that if it helped her then it could help other people," he said. "This money will help me to develop the brand. We are in the process of adding sunscreen to the cream and we plan to launch it next year.”
Another lucky winner is Louise Spencer, who retired the day before she found out she's won £142,857.
"This is a lovely surprise for me and my husband David," she said. "Hopefully now he'll be able to retire too and we can go on holiday to Australia and America to visit friends and family."
The former police staff worker would recommend playing People's Postcode Lottery. "This has been such a lovely experience to win a fantastic prize with my neighbours. It's a day I'll never forget."
People's Postcode Lottery ambassador, Judie McCourt, was delighted to hand out the cheques to the Nuneaton winners.
"What a wonderful way to get into the Christmas spirit," Judie said. "I've had a brilliant day with our fabulous winners in Nuneaton and I hope this gets their festive celebrations off to a great start."
