It's a fantastic weekend for two neighbours in Blantyre as they've each scooped £30,000! The windfall came after their postcode, G72 0TY, won our Saturday Street Prize.
Our winners, Denise and Laura, had their cheques revealed over video call with Street Prize Presenter Judie McCourt.
Denise and husband Jim were over the moon when they found out how much they'd won. Denise exclaimed, "Oh my god! That is fantastic. I'm made up with that. I feel a bit sick! We never win anything. I've never even won the bingo! I never thought I'd see the golden envelope."
The couple plan to treat their family, and escape to the sunshine when they can. Denise said, "We've got four boys, so they'll get some money. One of them has just got a new house so no doubt he'll be asking for something. He'll be chapping the door for something!
"When we're allowed we'll take a nice big holiday, too. It really takes the pressure off. I've been ill so this will make a massive difference."
When asked how they'd be celebrating, Jim said, "We'll crack a bottle open and have a wee drink." Denise added, "Yes, we will have a champagne lunch! We've got champagne on ice now!"
Our other lucky winner, Laura, started playing Postcode Lottery after a colleague from Hamilton won a few years ago. She said, "A few of us joined after she won. I'll need to say thanks to her now. Two of us in the same office!"
Laura plans to take her family on holiday with her winnings. She said, "A holiday could be in order when this lockdown is over. I have two young kids, so we haven't been abroad for a good couple of years. We will get them sorted out with some passports and go somewhere sunny. They've never been abroad before; they've only been to a caravan in Scotland!
"My husband will want to spend it on a motorbike, but I'm not too sure about that!"
When asked to sum up how she was feeling, Laura said, "Super, excited and happy! My bank has never seen anything like this. I bought a wee bottle of fizz in preparation so that will be getting opened shortly." She added, "It feels good because you buy a ticket and never know if you will win, but it's great to know it helps charities, too."
Judie McCourt said, "I'm thrilled for Denise and Laura! It sounds like both of their families are in for a treat, and I'm sure the champagne celebrations will be a success."
