A mother-of-two from Derby has promised to splash out on her children this Christmas after scooping a £25,000 lottery win.
Wendy Beric, 51, from Quarndon View in Derby, found out she'd won, after her postcode DE22 2XJ was drawn as a Saturday Street Prize winner. The recruitment consultant says the windfall was a lovely surprise.
"I couldn't believe it when I saw the cheque for £25,000. It completely threw me," she said. "I think there will be a few more treats for everyone this Christmas."
Wendy and her husband Nick are planning some special trips for their children.
"I'm taking my teenage daughter Emily to London in a couple of weeks for an overnight stay. We'll be visiting Harrods and Westfield, so I'm sure a few impulse buys might be on the cards," she added. "Our son Luca is a huge football fan, and Nick is planning to take him to some big stadiums in Europe."
Wendy loves playing People's Postcode Lottery. She said, "I like the fact that there are chances to win every day. You play with your postcode, so it's easier than deliberating over numbers. I like the fact that players support great charities."
People's Postcode Lottery ambassador Scott Quinnell was in Derby to present our winner Wendy with the cheque. He said, "It was great to meet Wendy and to give the Beric family such an amazing prize so close to Christmas."
