Street Prize Lands In Southsea

29 October - PO5 1LR - Southsea - £25,000

Four players in Southsea had a lot to celebrate this Halloween weekend as they won a combined £100,000, thanks to People's Postcode Lottery. PO5 1LR was drawn as a Street Prize winner, and most of the winners have holidays on their minds.

Sheila Cole was particularly lucky, as she won her £25,000 after only one month of playing!

"This is my first ever lottery ticket, so it just goes to show that you don't have to play for years to win something," she said. "I'd say to other people who are thinking of playing just take a chance. I'm going to use this money to travel first class to Australia. Winning has not just made my day, it's made my world!"

Sheila's neighbour, Kathleen Smith, was over the moon to be presented with her cheque for £25,000 from Street Prize Presenter Danyl Johnson. "This is just brilliant," she said. "I'm so pleased for everyone on the street who has won. This means my husband and I can go on holiday and get a bit of winter sun somewhere hot."

Mum-of-one Dorina Tarmure was joined by her husband Adrian when she was presented with her £25,000 cheque. "I'm so shocked," she said. "I never thought I'd win this much."

Dorina, who works as a waitress, is planning on celebrating with friends and family. "I'd really like to have a party," she said. "I have told all of my colleagues, who want to sign up themselves now. I need to have a good think about how to spend the money. Perhaps I'll go on a nice holiday!"

There was one other winner in the street who also won £25,000. They were not available to accept their cheque, but their winnings will be deposited directly into their bank account.

The three Southsea winners also said they all decided to sign up to help support charities. Players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised more than £148 Million to date for good causes across Great Britain and internationally.

A project near Southsea that has received support from players is Island 2000, which was awarded £20,000 this year for the Swanmore Meadows Restoration.

Also this weekend, the second Saturday Street Prize landed in Blandford Forum, a winner in Worthing will be jetting off with the Dream Holidays prize, the BMW and £5,000 prizes were won in Bridgend, and the fabulous October Postcode Millions landed in High Wycombe.
