Winners In Awe In Wythenshawe

03 March 2020 - M23 1AJ - Wythenshawe - £30,000

An extraordinary 11 neighbours in Wythenshawe are today celebrating a big win. The residents picked up £360,000 between them after their postcode, M23 1AJ, was drawn as a winner of our £30,000 Street Prize. Ten of the players scooped £30,000 each, with one winner doubling their prize to £60,000 thanks to playing with two tickets.

Canada Bound

Bernard, a travelling sales director, was delighted with his £30,000 win. He said, "Are you kidding me?! That's a bit more than £10! Superb!"

Bernard plans to visit Canada and treat his three daughters with the prize money. He said, "I'd love a holiday to Canada as I've never been and would love to go. I hope I can visit the Rockies and Montreal. I'll maybe take some sport in over there and do something a bit different that I haven't done before. That's what winning this money will do, let me do something different.

"My sister passed away recently and this will help me with funeral costs. Yesterday I didn't have anything and today I have £30,000, so it makes a massive difference."

Well-Deserved Holiday

Jean, a district nurse, was another £30,000 winner. Jean and her husband Chris are going to treat themselves to a well-deserved holiday. She said, "Unbelievable! This is brilliant! We've not been abroad for 30 years just the two of us so this will definitely go towards that. I fancy somewhere like the Seychelles, as long as it's warmer than here.

"This is genuine a dream for working-class people like us. It's such a lovely community here. I'm so pleased for everyone."

Bursting With Happiness

Alan, a grandfather and great-grandfather also scooped a £30,000 prize. He said, "I don't know what's just happened, it's a fantastic feeling! I'm just an ordinary person so you don't expect these things to happen. My heart was beating fast when I saw you coming down the street.

"I'll need to sit down and have a cup of tea and think about what to do with the money! It will definitely go towards the grandkids though. I'm really, really bursting with happiness!"

Absolutely Fantastic

James, a patrol officer, was over the moon when he received his cheque for £30,000. He said, "Knowing that other people in the area have won is great. It's good for charities and good for the communities. It's a fantastic street. We've got everything from electricians and painters and decorators, if you want something doing this street has it all!"

Today's Street Prize is part of a draw promoted by British Red Cross, who help anyone, anywhere in the UK and around the world, get the support they need if crisis strikes. Players have raised more than £5.5 Million for British Red Cross so far. That funding is helping people to withstand emergencies, recover and move on with their lives.

Local charities also benefit from player support. Last year, Manchester Carers Forum received £15,000. This funding went towards a telephone support line for carers who may feel isolated because of their caring role.
