Party In Poulton-le-Fylde
It's a fabulous day for six Poulton-le-Fylde players as their postcode, FY6 7SF, has been announced as the winner of Saturday's Street Prize.
Five of the Birch Way neighbours scooped £30,000 each, with one winner doubling their money to £60,000 thanks to playing with two tickets.
Mike was the lucky player with two tickets, meaning he received a cheque for a whopping £60,000.
Mike was with his wife Sheila when it was revealed how much he had won. He said, "I'm speechless to be honest! Any amount of money would have been great, but this is just a fabulous surprise. We've not had a holiday in a few years so we'll definitely spend it on that!"
Sandra and Pamela were two of the other neighbours who each scooped a massive £30,000.
Sandra said, "I'm absolutely amazed – just shocked! My husband Gary and I haven't been away for a long time so we'll be booking ourselves a nice holiday. I think it's time to stop being sensible all the time and allow ourselves this treat."
Pamela and her husband Roger couldn't believe their eyes when they received their cheque for £30,000. Pamela said, "I really wasn't expecting this much. You think you might win something but not this! We like visiting Spain so we'll put this towards going over there very shortly!"
People's Postcode Lottery Presenter Danyl Johnson was in Poulton-le-Fylde to hand out the cheques and meet the happy winners. He said, "It's always my pleasure to present our players with some big cheques and today was no exception. It sounds like there are going to be some lovely holidays booked soon – I hope all of our winners enjoy splashing their cash."
32% of the ticket price goes to charities and good causes and, to date, players have raised £393 Million for over 5,500 causes across Great Britain as well as internationally. This prize was part of a draw promoted by Breast Cancer Care.
Many local charities close to the winners have benefited from funding raised by players including Fylde Coast Women's Aid, which received £19,994 to set up a service for older women who have experienced domestic abuse.
One lucky player picked up a £30,000 cheque elsewhere after winning Sunday's Street Prize.
