Street Prize

Triumph For Tamworth

24 June 2017 - B77 1GP - Tamworth - £30,000

Street Prize Presenter Jeff Brazier surprised seven lucky Tamworth neighbours with big cheques after their postcode, B77 1GP, was drawn as this week's Saturday Street Prize winner.

Six of the winners landed £30,000 each, while the seventh plays with two tickets so doubled their prize to a whopping £60,000.

Carol Green, the lucky £60,000 winner, said, "I'm absolutely buzzing! I can’t believe it. I haven't had a chance to think about how I'll spend it yet but I think I'll pay off a chunk of the mortgage. It's lovely to win with my neighbours too."

Dianne Johnson knows exactly how she'll be spending her winnings. "My husband Steve and I have been counting down until we're able to retire, but thought it would be a few years away yet - now we'll be able to by the end of the year. Our plan is to move to Malta – we've been going for years and can't wait to live there."

Josh Gough also has a plan for his £30,000. "It'll be going on a house deposit. I've wanted to buy somewhere for a while but it's really tough to save up while renting and paying bills. It wouldn't have been possible for a long time without this."

Allen Stokes was presented his cheque with his partner Julie. He shocked her by saying, "I think we'll get married now!"

Stuart Smith said he'd be treating his children with the win. "We'll definitely be booking a family holiday to Florida as soon as possible – the kids come first, so it will be great to give them that experience. Anything else is a bonus."

Lisa Nicholls was shocked to discover that she had won £30,000 but knows exactly how to spend it. "I've just booked my holiday for next year," she said. "My six-year-old Owen and I are off on a Disney Cruise around the Bahamas – I can’t wait!" But as well as spoiling herself and her son, Lisa wants to treat her sister Karen. "My sister has four children and has never been able to manage a holiday, so I'm going to book one for them. We're going to have a proper look together."

Gavin Savage also won £30,000 after only five months of playing. "I actually signed up because my neighbour, who lives round the corner in a different postcode, won £30,000 earlier this year. I never dreamed I would win so soon," he said.

Gavin needs to have a chat about how to spend his winning with his partner Sonia. "My two sons have already given me a shopping list!" he said.

Jeff Brazier said, "I've had a such a wonderful time here in Tamworth meeting some really fantastic people. It's great to see so many neighbours winning and celebrating together – it's what People's Postcode Lottery is all about."

A minimum of 30% of the ticket price goes directly to charities. To date, players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised more than £205 Million for good causes across Great Britain and internationally.

A cause near the winners which has received support from players is Heart of Tamworth Community Project, which was awarded £20,000 to open a Town Centre Hub, providing a space for community services and meetings.

One lucky Manchester player also scooped £30,000, as postcode M9 6SH was drawn as the winner of Sunday's Street Prize.
