Street Prize

Congratulations Castleford

30 June 2022 - WF10 4EB - Castleford - £30,000

Champagne corks were popping in Castleford after eight neighbours each won an incredible £30,000 cheque. The lucky eight landed their prizes as WF10 4EB was drawn as the winner of today's Street Prize.

Street Prize Presenter Judie McCourt was in Castleford to surprise a few of our lucky players.

That Knock At The Door

Joanne couldn't believe her luck when Judie surprised her with a five-figure cheque. She said, "We've just won £30,000! I'm shocked, I can't believe it, I never thought it would happen to us, but it has.

"I never thought I'd get that knock on the door."

Joanne, a support worker for people with learning disabilities, was joined by her husband Andrew. The couple plan to use some of their winnings for a dream holiday. Joanne said, "We'll have a nice holiday. I've always wanted to go to Australia, we've got friends in Australia and now we can go. I think I want to go to Bondi Beach!" Andrew added that they would treat their loved ones with the cash. He said, "We'll look after our friends and family, get some small treats."

Joanne was pleased that seven of her neighbours had also scooped a prize and said of the area, "We're a close community, everyone looks after each other."

When asked how she might celebrate, Joanne laughed and said, "A nice meal and a bottle of champagne!"

She was thrilled to hear about the charities and good causes that players support. She said, "It feels amazing knowing that you can help charities and that your money is going to good causes."

Greece Is The Word

Lesley gasped on seeing her £30,000 prize and said, "Never in a million years did I think I'd win anything. Not to me, no.

"It means a lot. I've never had this amount of money ever in my life. It's a big shock but it will be spent very wisely."

The mum-of-three already had plans for her winnings. She said, "Definitely a holiday. I'll treat my three children, that's the first and foremost. Somewhere in Greece, I've never been so that's what I'm looking at. It looks beautiful."

Lesley couldn't wait to share the news with her family and said, "I think I need to ring my mum! I'll be ringing her straight away. She'll probably scream. She'll come down with a bottle of wine."

When asked if she had any other plans for the cash, Lesley said, "I don't know what yet, I'll need some time for this to all sink in. I could use a sofa, to be honest, so that could be an option.

"My son will definitely be after some gig tickets!"

She was also thrilled for the other Street Prize winners and said, "I'm so, so pleased for everyone. It's really good here. It's a small town and everyone knows each other and it's like a little family."

Over The Moon

Michael was delighted when he found out that he'd won £30,000. He said, "In my wildest dreams I never thought I'd see this day happen, but it's come and I'm over the moon."

Along with treating his three children, Michael wanted to use some of his winnings to revisit a favourite holiday location. He said, "I'd like to go back to Portugal. I love Portugal, I've been there sixteen times!"

When asked if he had any other treats in mind, Michael wasn't looking to spend too much on himself. He laughed and said, "I might treat myself to some new tracksuit bottoms and tops!"

Absolutely Brilliant

Irvin was joined by his wife Ann when Judie revealed his Street Prize. The grandparents were stunned when they saw what was written on their cheque. Ann said, "What a surprise, we never thought we'd win that much. It's brilliant, absolutely brilliant."

When we asked the couple what they might like, Irvin suggested a holiday as the couple haven't been able to travel for the last few years. Greece was top of his list. However, his very first purchase would be a new fishing pole.

The couple were also hoping to renovate their home as their kitchen is almost fifty years old. Ann said that she was delighted the couple could finally look at updating it.

After presenting today's winners with their cheques, Judie McCourt said, "I couldn't be happier for our Castleford winners today, I'm sure they'll all be over the moon with this surprise. I hope they have fun with their winnings and get some special treats to celebrate the good news."
