In Derbyshire, in postcode sector DE72 3, 35 local residents have scooped a total of £220,000 in the European Postcode Millions draw. The People's Postcode Lottery team visited Draycott, Borrowash, Ockbrook, Breaston and Risley to dish out cheques.

Some of the bigger prize winners were invited to a winner's ceremony held at the Bulls Head public house in Draycott to discover how much they had won and celebrate with fellow players.

Biggest winner on the day, Emma Leech, 40, said of her £44,200 win, "I can't quite believe it! I only signed up to play People's Postcode Lottery 14 months ago and I'm already a winner."

Mrs Leech and husband Jamie already have great plans on how to spend their winnings. She said, "I have always wished that I could open my own coffee shop, somewhere local to Draycott. Having this money means that I may finally be able to do it."

She added, "We have never had lots of money sitting around - knowing that this money is ours to do something with is so exciting."

Fellow Walter Street resident Christopher Harrison, 40, was also delighted to discover that he too was a winner, after picking up a cheque for £22,100. Mr Harrison, a composite fitter with local firm EPM Technology in Draycott said, "I am in total shock. I had no idea that I would win this much!"

Mr Harrison already has his eye set on sunnier climes, saying, "My partner Sharon has a special birthday this year, so we have been talking about going on holiday to Mexico as a treat."

It's not just the lucky Derbyshire players that win either. Together, players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised over £22.6 Million for good causes to date. Charities include Missing People and Maggie's, which operate throughout Britain. To date, these charities have received over £1.9 Million and £2.4 Million respectively to support their fantastic work.

Funding from players also supports a variety of good causes all over the country. Over £6 Million has been awarded by People's Postcode Trust. The Trust is funded entirely by the players and gives grants to charities and organisations across Britain.
