Bravo To Birkenhead

08 July 2019 - CH62 1DS - Birkenhead - £30,000

Seven magnificent neighbours in Birkenhead have got their summer off to a winning start as they scooped a cash prize of £30,000 each thanks to their lucky postcode. The Easton Road residents landed the money when CH62 1DS was drawn as a winner of today's #30KADAY Street Prize

House Hunting

Midwife Laura says she'll now be able to put down a deposit and buy her own house thanks to the win. She said, "When I was at university my course was so full-on that I couldn't work alongside it and since I graduated in 2014 it's been pretty difficult to save, but now I can look forward to house hunting and getting on the property ladder!

"I've lived in this house all my life and have grown up alongside some of my neighbours who have also won. It's lovely to share this experience together and we've already arranged to go around and celebrate with some prosecco!"

Taken Aback

Retired pharmacy technician Jane, who has lived at the winning postcode for 51 years, was taken aback when her cheque was revealed. She said, "I was only expecting £1,000 - I didn't dream for one minute that it would be £30,000. I was meant to be going to Chester with my friend today but I'm glad I stayed in now. I'm made up!"

Jane was joined by her two children, Ian and Laura, as well as her son-in-law Wayne when she received the knock on her door. She plans to treat them and the rest of her family with the windfall. She said, "There's not much I need, except some new windows for the house, so I'll be mainly sharing this out between the kids and my three grandkids. I get a lot of enjoyment from seeing my family happy and if your nan can't spoil you then who can?!

"This is a really smashing neighbourhood, and I've some of the best neighbours you could ask for. It's brilliant so many of us have won today."

The remaining winners couldn't be there to collect their prizes, but the money will be paid directly into their bank accounts.

Street Prize Presenter Jeff Brazier was in Birkenhead handing out the winning cheques. He said, "What a pleasure it was to meet Jane and Laura and hear how much the prize means to them. I'm sure they will all have a great time celebrating their good fortune.

"This is the start of a very busy month for us at People's Postcode Lottery, and I hope I'm back in the area with some more big cheques soon!"

Deserving Projects

With 32% of the ticket price going to charities and good causes, players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised over £450 Million for deserving groups and projects across Great Britain and around the world. Our players are making a difference every day for a wide range of amazing organisations.

Today's prize is part of a draw promoted by Unicef UK, which has received over £5 Million thanks to player support. This funding is helping the organisation make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children around the world.

The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity is one of many charities close to the winners that have received funding raised by players. Last year, it was awarded £20,000 to provide emotional and physical support to people living with cancer by providing them with access to a counsellor.

With fabulous Prizes announced every single day, it's a great time to become a People's Postcode Lottery player. Take a look at How It Works and, if you're feeling lucky, sign up to play. You never know, with a little luck, our presenters could be knocking on your door!
