Good News For Newtown
A Newtown resident is £90,000 richer today, after his lucky postcode was revealed as a winner with People's Postcode Lottery. SY16 2JA has scooped the Sunday Street Prize and brought a second whopping prize to Wales this weekend.
Self-employed plasterer Craig won our £30,000 Street Prize. However, thanks to playing with three tickets, Craig tripled his winnings to a terrific £90,000. Craig found out about his win in a video call with People's Postcode Lottery Presenter Jeff Brazier.
Happy Days Are Here
When Jeff revealed the first £30,000 cheque, Craig was chuffed. He said, "Happy days! That's class!"
However, as Craig was playing with three tickets, he was then shocked to find he'd won the much larger sum of £90,000. Craig said, "Wow! That's amazing! Thank you very much! I'm a bit hot and sweaty. This really couldn't have come at a better time. It will make a massive difference. It's life-changing money. The wife will probably have loads of plans already. She's dancing round the hallway right now! I can think about putting a deposit on a house and I might even get a new car."
Best Foot Forward
Whilst Craig plans to use the money to buy a house, he's going to spend some of the winnings to update his trainer collection. Craig added, “I like to collect trainers so I can add more now. My wife doesn't like me buying them cause they're quite expensive, but she can't say a lot now! I like Air Max so I can get myself a few more pairs of those."
Craig and his wife Marilyn are also looking forward to treating their two young children to the holiday of a lifetime. Craig explained, "I can book a holiday and take the kids away after lockdown is over now. Our plans can change with this amount of money. It has to be Disneyland! I have two young ones, aged 10 and 13, so they're around the perfect age for Disneyland."
Craig and Marilyn can't visit a lavish restaurant just now, but they still plan to celebrate in style. Craig said, "We'll have a bottle of champagne and a nice steak dinner in the house!"
Twin Wins In Wales
A second player in the winning postcode has also picked up a big prize today. Playing with two tickets, they've scooped a staggering £60,000.
Jeff Brazier said, "A big congratulations to Craig and Marilyn. It sounds like they already have some great ideas about how to spend their £90k. It's been a great weekend for our Welsh players, with a Bangor resident winning Saturday's £30,000 prize, then Newtown on Sunday. You never know when we will be back!"
Benefiting Charities Every Day
Today's prize was part of a draw promoted by Postcode Animal Trust. Postcode Animal Trust supports charities and good causes that are educating, supporting and promoting animal welfare and conservation. Charities supported by Postcode Animal Trust include Battersea, Marine Conservation Society and the Riding for the Disabled Association.
