Cash Flows To Bridgwater

20 August 2017 - TA6 5DJ - Bridgwater - £30,000

Three Bridgwater neighbours are celebrating this week after winning £30,000 each thanks to their postcode, TA6 5DJ.

"I'm on cloud nine," said Sue Higgins when she discovered how much she'd won. "I've not quite got over the shock."

Sue was joined by her husband John when she was presented with her cheque, and the timing is perfect as the couple have something to celebrate. "I've just decided to retire from my job at Santander," she said. "I've told my team that I'll take them all out for dinner with my winnings."

As well as treating her workmates, Sue has two children to spoil. "My son needs a new kitchen so I'll help him with that, and my daughter would like a holiday. I promised my youngest granddaughter a trip away too."

As well as treating others, Sue and John would like to book a holiday for themselves. "I've always fancied Cape Verdi," she said.

Morwen Murray was equally delighted with her £30,000. Morwen was joined by her husband Daniel who couldn't believe the news. "We just can't get over it," he said. "It definitely feels like a lucky postcode and we have three children, 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren to celebrate with. More people should sign up - you're helping others as well as having a chance to win."

Malcolm Brown was at work when the team arrived with his cheque. "My wife Jackie was given the cheque at first but when she phoned to tell me how much I'd won, I rushed home," he said.

Malcolm, who works as an engineer, has a few ideas for the money. "We have a close group of friends who we will be celebrating with and I think we'll be booking a holiday to Portugal soon."

Street Prize Presenter Danyl Johnson said, "I've enjoyed meeting the three lovely winners today. It seems like a really nice community here, and I'm sure the winners will enjoy spending their money."

A minimum of 31% of the ticket price goes to charities. To date, players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised more than £221 Million for more than 3,000 good causes across Great Britain and internationally.

A local cause that has received support from players is Age UK in Somerset_._The charity was awarded £20,000 in 2016 for its Computers in Easy Bytes project. The project provides IT assistance for people over the age of 55 who are disadvantaged due to low income, disability, or location.

On Saturday, one lucky Bromsgrove winner enjoyed a cash windfall with our £30,000 Street Prize.
