Postcode Millions
Lady Luck Visits Lancaster
What a fantastic weekend for lucky Lancaster neighbours, who shared a massive £3 Million prize pot in November's Postcode Millions.
The full winning postcode, LA2 0DJ, was announced at this weekend's Postcode Millions party, held at Glasson Dock, hosted by Jeff Brazier and Danyl Johnson.
One lucky player scooped the biggest prize of the day, a whopping £273,460. Other players in postcode sector LA2 0 took home between £12,800 and £38,400 each.
Charles, who previously worked as Works Manager at Glasson Basin Yacht Club, was joined by his wife Enid as he collected the top prize. He said, "I'm absolutely flabbergasted. We'll be able to have a fantastic Christmas and share our winnings with our daughter and three grandchildren.
"We signed up to play in March 2016 as we wanted to support local people and charities - since then we’ve won £10 - but nothing like this!"
Darren was one of the winners badly affected by this week's flooding in Lancashire. He said, "This has saved my life. The flooding happened on Wednesday night and the bottom floor of my house was under a foot of water - absolutely everything is ruined and I don’t have house insurance.
"It's unbelievable that these two things have happened in the same week. This money means that I'll be able to do the house up, and it'll be even better than before."
Peter, who along with his wife Sophie won £25,600, said, "It's been such an exciting few weeks in the build up to Postcode Millions coming to Lancaster."
The couple, who have twin boys and a daughter, told us, "We never expected to win such a significant amount of money. One of our twins is fascinated with nature - and now we'll be able to take the kids to America to visit a nature and conservation reserve - which will be incredible."
Following the recent flooding in parts of north Lancashire, the Lancashire Recovery Appeal has been launched in support of local people who have been affected and players of People's Postcode Lottery have pledged £15,000 towards clean-up costs, emergency repairs, clothing, food and drink, heating and heating equipment.
Clara Govier, Head of Charities at People's Postcode Lottery, said, "I'm delighted our players are able to help those affected by Wednesday's flooding. The Lancaster Recovery Appeal will provide vital resources to aid those who have been worst hit and Postcode Local Trust is proud to support the community at this difficult time."
It's not just players who win with People's Postcode Lottery as a minimum 31% of the ticket price goes directly to charities. Over £246 Million has so far been raised by players, which has supported over 3,000 good causes in Great Britain and internationally.
A number of charities that have received People's Postcode Lottery funding attended the event to thank players for their support, including the Canal & River Trust, CLIC Sargent and Dementia Adventure.

Also this weekend, we had thirteen thrilled Street Prize winners in Kennington and two sisters picked up £30,000 cheques in Hornchurch.
