Street Prize

Euphoria In Alexandria

29 June 2019 - G83 9EP - Alexandria - £30,000

It's a bonanza in Alexandria as neighbours in one lucky street each picked up a fabulous five-figure sum thanks to their postcode. The magnificent seven scooped their cheques when G83 9EP was announced as Saturday's Street Prize winner.

30,000 Smackeroonies

Lucky player Nan said, "I can't believe I've got 30,000 smackeroonies!" Talking about how she would spend her windfall, Nan said, "I'm thinking about a wee holiday with my friend; buy some nice new clothes and stay in a lovely hotel down south somewhere - maybe Devon to get some sun.

"I'm going to do some things for myself for a change. I have four sons, as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and I'll want to treat them, but I know they'll tell me to spend it on myself!"

Blown Away

Neighbour Pat and her husband John were just as delighted with their £30,000 cheque. Pat said, "I'm blown away! At our age this kind of money is life changing. We had been looking at holidays but they're so expensive this year, so it's fantastic that we can now go on holiday together.

"It's great for the community - especially with the money that goes to local charities from playing too. I think it's really important to give something back."

Charity Work

Prize winner Nicola was joined by her husband Stephen as she was presented with her prize. She said, "I do lots of charity work and know that a lot of children's charities are supported by playing which is why I signed up.

"We're going to Sorrento for our 10th anniversary later in the year, so we'll be able to do it in a bit more luxury now!"

Still In Shock

Neighbour Tracy and her husband Robert will also be celebrating their 10th anniversary with their win. Tracy said, "We might take a holiday or do something nice to celebrate. I'm still in shock so I'm going to have to have a think about it!"

Street Prize Presenter Judie McCourt delivered the cheques to our winners. She said, "I had a fantastic day in Alexandria meeting all the winners - what a wonderful group of neighbours. I hope they all enjoy spending it!"

Great News For Good Causes

With People's Postcode Lottery, a minimum of 32% of the ticket price goes directly to charities and good causes. Our players are raising funds for thousands of good causes across Britain and around the world. To date, players have raised more than £438 Million for community projects and charitable organisations.

Today's prize was part of a draw promoted by Canal & River Trust, which has received over £6.4 Million thanks to player support. This funding is enabling the charity to care for and transform over 2,000 miles of canals and rivers across England and Wales.

Lots of good causes close to the winners in Alexandria have also received support thanks to funding raised by players. YoMo (Young Movers) was awarded £16,000 in 2017 to run a training and support programme for vulnerable and disadvantaged young people that allows them to gain an accredited qualification
