Ipswich Strikes It Rich

Two people on one street in Ipswich have been visited by Lady Luck as they picked up cheques for a staggering £30,000 each.

The Mersey Road neighbours scooped the cash when their postcode, IP3 0QN, was announced as the winner of Sunday's Street Prize.

Local taxi driver Garry was one of the lucky winners. Garry was completely overcome with emotion when he discovered exactly how much he'd won. He said, "This is really going to be life-changing for me. It will mean I can put the metaphorical – and literal - brakes on driving the taxi and can stop working quite so much, so I can spend more time with my wife Kim and my two stepdaughters."

Garry is planning to whisk Kim and his two stepdaughters, aged 11 and 17, on the holiday of a lifetime. "It's always been our dream to take the family to Disneyworld in Florida and now I've got the ability to turn that into a reality. Before we book the holiday we'll definitely have a family celebration with some champagne, a Chinese takeaway, and I might treat Kim to an eternity ring as well!

With 32% of the ticket price going to charity, players of People's Postcode Lottery have now raised £340 Million for good causes. This prize is part of a draw promoted by People's Postcode Trust.

Ipswich 4 Family is one charity close to the winners that has been supported by players. The group was awarded £4,960 last year to expand its one-to-one mentoring service for families who are struggling.
