Street Prize
Wokingham Wins
A Wokingham resident has been left stunned after winning a lottery prize with her new postcode having already won a prize at her previous home.
Former bank manager turned gardener Wendy landed £30,000 and a £5,000 holiday after we announced RG41 1ND as the winning postcode today. Amazingly, the mum-of-four had already scooped £11,985 when Wokingham won our Postcode Millions in 2020.
Following her win, Wendy switched to playing with her new postcode and this week struck lucky again when she and five other neighbours at RG41 1ND netted prizes.
Her neighbour Jean signed up to play after finding out about Wendy's previous good fortune and joined her in collecting a £30,000 cash prize and a £5,000 holiday.
Moved To Tears
Wendy was moved to tears on receiving her prizes and said, "It was amazing, the first win came exactly when I needed it and now, we really need a holiday. It could be my last chance to have a family holiday all together before my girls start holidaying with their friends instead."
Having fallen in love with gardening, Wendy changed careers and is now devoted to green-fingered pursuits. She spent part of her first win on transforming her own garden and now plans to invest some of her latest winnings into a garden makeover business.
Feeling Lucky
Meanwhile, next door neighbour Jean thought a street party was on the cards and is planning a trip to the United States. She said, "I can't tell you how I'm feeling. I speak to my grandkids every single day and they even track my steps on my watch to keep me fit, but I haven't seen them in four years, so I just feel so lucky to be able to see them this summer."
People's Postcode Lottery Presenter Danyl Johnson said, "I'm a local boy and thrilled to be knocking on doors here in Wokingham. I'm so excited for our winners today and getting a cuddle from Wendy's puppy Bentley was the icing on the cake."
Good Causes Everywhere
Today's prize is part of a draw promoted on behalf of Postcode Education Trust (opens in a new tab). Supported by our players, this trust delivers grant funding to organisations that provide education, particularly in emergency situations. Benefiting charities include AfriKids, War Child and Save the Children.
With 33% of the ticket price going to charities and good causes, players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised more than £1 Billion for thousands of deserving causes and projects across Great Britain and around the world.
