Cheer For Brithdir
Philip Peak from Brithdir had a very exciting visit last weekend, when Street Prize Presenter Judie McCourt arrived at his door with a cheque for £30,000. Philip's postcode, LL40 2SB, was drawn as the winner of Saturday's Street Prize.
Philip was joined by his wife Amanda when being presented with his prize, and said they were both in shock at the win. "I've only been playing for a few months, so it was a big surprise. We need to get our bathroom done up so that's the first thing the money will go towards – it's particularly expensive because of my disabilities, so this will be a big help. After that we'll probably keep the rest so we know we have a safety blanket in case we need it for anything in the future."
Street Prize Presenter Judie McCourt said, "I'm absolutely delighted for Philip for his win. It was a pleasure to meet him and his wife Amanda, and I hope they enjoy spending the money."
A minimum of 30% of the ticket price goes directly to charities. Players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised over £212 Million to date for more than 2,800 good causes across Great Britain and internationally.
One good cause local to the winning postcode which has received support from players is North Wales Group of Boys and Girls Clubs. The charity was awarded £10,000 last year for a programme of training opportunities for young people.
There were also celebrations in Haverhill, as CB9 9NH was drawn as the winner of Sunday's Street Prize.
