Hip Hip Hooray For Hatfield
The weekend is off to a fantastic start for four winners in Hatfield after their postcode, AL10 8JT, scooped today's Street Prize. Three of the neighbours netted cheques for £30,000 each, while the fourth, who plays with three tickets, trebled their prize money to an unbelievable £90,000!
Sonia learned of her win during a video call with Street Prize Presenter Matt Johnson. When Matt revealed her £30,000 cheque, she exclaimed, "Oh my God! That's amazing! Thank you so much! We've never, ever had that sort of money, so it means the world."
The mum-of-three was quick to say she wanted to share the good fortune with her family. She said, "My first thought is we can now pay for my son's driving insurance. I haven't really thought about buying myself something yet. A holiday would be wonderful. We normally go to Spain because it's easy with the kids, but anywhere would be great right now."
Last year, Sonia had aimed to start her own beauty business but needed to delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but she added that the win could help her with her plans. She said, "The long-term plan was to build a cabin [for the business] in the garden, so it could potentially help towards that."
When asked how she would celebrate, Sonia said, "We'll definitely have some sort of celebration this evening. We were planning on a celebration today anyway in the hope that my son passes his driving test today, so hopefully it'll be a double celebration!"
After ideas for her family and husband Paul, there was one item that Sonia thought she might like for herself. She said, "Maybe a new handbag! I like a Marc Jacobs, so maybe one of those!"
Matt Johnson sent his congratulations to the winners and said, "What a wonderful surprise for our winners in Hatfield today, I couldn't be happier for them! It was so nice to bring this surprise to Sonia, I'm sure she and her family will have a great time enjoying the winnings."
