Thousands Won In Thurcaston

17 September - LE7 7JP - Thurcaston - £25,000

An aerospace engineer from Thurcaston, who scooped £25,000, is flying high after his lucky win.

Ian Wood, who works for Rolls Royce, is thrilled that he can now buy the rare vintage car he's dreamed of owning since childhood. The 53-year-old is now in the market for a bright orange three-wheeled vehicle called a Bond Bug, which was made in the 1970s.

He said, "I've always wanted a Bond Bug since I first saw one. I just like the look of them. I think there are only 800 on the road, so I'll have to start looking online to find one for sale. Otherwise I'll need to restore one, which shouldn't be too difficult.

"Once I've bought the car, I'll take my wife Paula on holiday, and I've got twin daughters who'll also come with us.

"I've played People's Postcode Lottery for two years and I've had a £10 win before, but this is a great sum of money and it'll make a big difference to us."

Ian won one of this weekend's Saturday Street Prizes with his postcode LE7 7JP. There were two other winners who were unavailable for the cheque presentation, but their winnings will be transferred directly into their bank accounts.

Street Prize Presenter Matt Johnson said, "It just goes to show that winning People's Postcode Lottery can make dreams come true. If you want a chance to win like Ian, sign up to play now. What are you waiting for?"

£142 Million has been raised to date by players for good causes across Great Britain and internationally. A project that players have supported near Thurcaston is Leicester Animal Aid, which was awarded £14,695 this year for a community pet support scheme.

One lucky player in Leamington Spa was also surprised with a £25,000 win this weekend, as her postcode CV31 3QR was drawn as another Saturday Street Prize winner.
