Thrilled In Thornbury
A couple celebrating their ruby wedding anniversary and their bridesmaid are among four neighbours in Thornbury celebrating this weekend after scooping a share of £140,000 with People's Postcode Lottery.
The winners each pocketed prize cheques for £30,000 and a £5,000 holiday after their postcode, BS35 2DY, was announced as a winner today.
Stephen and his wife Debra bagged a £35,000 windfall thanks to their postcode. Stephen said, "I never thought we'd get a knock on the door from the Postcode Lottery. It's brilliant, absolutely brilliant!"
Stephen, a school caretaker, is planning a special holiday for their anniversary. He said, "As it's going to be our ruby wedding anniversary, we'll go away somewhere nice and sunny near the beach to celebrate."
Debra had another idea for a holiday. She said, "I'd like to go to New York just before Christmas."
The pair are also celebrating with their bridesmaid. Stephen said, "One of our neighbours who has also won was our bridesmaid at our wedding 40 years ago." Debra added, "It's really nice that she's won as well. I'm excited and over the moon."
Never In A Million Years
The couple's bridesmaid, Samantha, also netted a total of £35,000. On seeing how much she'd won she exclaimed, "Fab! Not in a million years did I think this would happen to someone like me.
"Debra and I grew up together and it's lovely to think we've both won."
This win was perfect timing for Samantha. She said, "It's come at a fantastic time - we can get a new shed, a new bathroom and we can go on holiday.
"I think we'll go on a cruise or try somewhere different. The Caribbean would be really nice, or Italy because I've never been."
Samantha plans to celebrate while enjoying a hobby. She said, "I play skittles, so the celebration will probably be a round of drinks at the skittle alley tonight."
Shocked But Amazed
Another lucky winner, Richard, is planning a special trip to Lapland and some home improvements. He said, "This win is awesome, absolutely awesome! I feel shocked but amazed.
"My wife and I have been chatting about taking our little boy to Lapland for Christmas. So, we'll go on a lovely holiday together.
"We'll spruce up the house a little bit. The porch is looking a little bit tired at the moment and we'll maybe do the bathroom as well."
Richard was delighted that three of his neighbours had also won. He said, "Wow, it's something different, something everyone can share rather than just one person."
People's Postcode Lottery Presenter Matt Johnson said, "Congratulations to our four winners in Thornbury who have scooped whopping prizes as part of our daily February draws.
"I hope they all enjoy celebrating tonight, spending the cash and have a great time on holiday."
Charities Win Too
Today's prize is part of a draw promoted on behalf of Postcode Animal Trust (opens in a new tab), which provides regular grant funding to organisations that work to educate, support and promote animal welfare and conservation. Supported charities include Dogs Trust, Riding for the Disabled Association and PDSA.
With People's Postcode Lottery, 33% of the ticket price goes to amazing charities and good causes around the world. Our players have raised more than £1 Billion so far!
