Terrific News For Troon

Troon residents shared £320,000 in July's European Postcode Millions. One player, Elizabeth Campbell, collected a cheque for a fantastic £160,000.

Elizabeth, known as Liz, was part of a celebration which saw a whopping 158 residents in winning postcode sector KA10 6 share a £320,000 prize pot. Elizabeth was revealed to be the only player living in full winning postcode KA10 6RF and took home an amazing £160,000.

"It hasn't sunk in yet," she said. "I really thought I had won about £500 but was hoping it would be a little more. I've hardy slept this week because I've been so excited. I thought the absolute maximum I would win would be £44,000 – I'm blown away by how much I've actually won."

Liz, who plays with two tickets, has been a player of People's Postcode Lottery since 2009. The main reason for her signing up was to support local charities. "I've always been a big supporter of charities and I loved the idea of a charity lottery - it really appealed to me," she said. "Local charities are just as deserving as the bigger ones and I'm happy I've done my bit to support them."

A group of winners and their families were treated to a drinks reception at the nearby Marine Hotel to discover how much they had won and to celebrate with other players.

Rugby legend, Andy Nicol, presented winners with their cheques. "The best part of my job is getting to tell people how much they've won," said People's Postcode Lottery Ambassador Andy Nicol. "We had some big winners in Troon today – I'd love to know what they will be spending the cash on."

Now with her purse £160,000 purse heavier, Liz is looking forward to spending her winnings. "I've always wanted to go back to Italy but I have a fear of flying to I may organise a lovely train journey," she said. "The money will mainly give me security though as I was made redundant a few years ago due to health problems which was why I moved to Troon from Glasgow. This really will change my life."

Liz is also keen to spoil her 12 nieces and nephews and treat her partner, James McMonagle, to the new car he's been after.

In December's European Postcode Millions, Emma Leech from Derbyshire picked up a cheque for £44,200. 35 local residents collected a total of £220,000 in the draw.
