Postcode Millions
West Bromwich Big Win
A community in West Bromwich has kicked off December in style by sharing a fantastic £3 Million prize pot. Over 100 players walked away with amazing cheques at the November Postcode Millions party held in Domain Plaza Hall in West Bromwich on Saturday.
Two lucky players, who both played with full winning postcode B70 7LR, scooped the lion's share of the prize money. The event saw 103 residents in the winning postcode sector B70 7 share a £3 Million prize pot, with prizes ranging from £20,224 up to a whopping £436,002.
Terrence Horton, who plays with two tickets, walked away with a whopping £436,002. Terrence, who attended the event with his partner Pauline, said, "This is absolutely mind-blowing, I just can't believe it!"
Terrence, a semi-retired pipe fitter, was a bag of nerves before the event. Now he's excited to surprise his family with his two cheques. "We're definitely going to celebrate tonight, I can't wait to see everyone's reactions when I tell them how much I've won," said Terrence. "I've been playing for about 18 months and it was only in July this year that I upped my subscription to two tickets and I am so delighted I did," continued Terrence.
With Christmas just around the corner, Terrence and Pauline plan to spoil their five grandchildren and make it the best Christmas yet. However, they have also got grand plans once the festive season is over. Pauline, an NHS caterer, has been dreaming of setting sail, "When we found out we were winners I thought it would be great to head off on a cruise and now we've won this much we can do that and so much more!"
With plans for a cruise, new windows, a new driveway and a caravan all in the pipeline, it looks like 2017 will be a great year for Terrence and Pauline.
A second lucky player, who also played with the full winning postcode, scooped £218,001 but was unavailable to receive their cheque. Their winnings will be paid directly into their bank account.
Lorry driver Colin Horton and his daughter Jodie, who works for a bank, both celebrated together after scooping £20,224 each.
Jodie said, "I just moved out of my parent's house this week and I was going to change the postcode that I play with, but I'm so glad I didn't get around to doing it. I'm going to spend the money on my new house that I just bought and go on holiday."
Colin said, "It's great that we both won and I'm really happy for Jodie. We'll definitely have a family party to celebrate our win. I never thought I'd win this much and now I'll be able to get a new kitchen and go on a nice holiday."
Sisters Jill Harrison and Sue Haynes also both scooped £20,224. They didn't know each other played People's Postcode Lottery until they arrived at the party. Jill said, "When we realised how much we'd both won, we just looked at each other and shared a hug. We both had tears in our eyes. It's so great that we got to share this experience together." Sue plans to spend her winnings on a caravan and Jill hopes to get a new bathroom.
Also winning on the day was Tracy Medlyn, who had been keeping People's Postcode Lottery's Facebook page updated in the run up to the event. Prior to the party, Tracy had written "I'm not holding my breath for a big win…I’m grateful for anything!" Tracy was ultimately lost for words when she was presented with her £40,448 cheque.
People's Postcode Lottery ambassador Judie McCourt was on hand to present the winners with their cheques. Judie said, "A Postcode Millions is exciting at any time of the year but on the run up to Christmas I always find it that bit more special. It was fantastic meeting Terrence today along with all the other winners. I hope everyone has the merriest of Christmases!"
Players of People's Postcode Lottery have the opportunity to win prizes every day whilst also awarding fantastic sums of money to good causes. To date, over £154 Million has been given to good causes across Great Britain and internationally. The Postcode Millions party saw a number of supported charities in attendance including Missing People, Marine Conservation Society, Riding for the Disabled Association and Girlguiding.
