Leeds Wins Big

06 June 2020 - LS11 5RT - Leeds - £30,000
Danyl reveals thrilling £30,000 Street Prize wins for six lucky players in Leeds

Six lucky players from Leeds have struck it rich, all thanks to their postcode. Each of our winners picked up a £30,000 prize after their postcode, LS11 5RT, was drawn in our Saturday Street Prize. One household scooped a staggering £60,000, thanks to a married couple playing with one ticket each and collecting two life-changing cheques. The wins were revealed during a video call by Street Prize Presenter Danyl Johnson.

Celebrating In The Seychelles

Donna and Andrew were joined by their 15-year-old son Alfie, and there was a lot of jumping and hugging when they discovered how much they'd won. After she'd finished screaming, Donna, a barber, said, "This is absolutely fantastic!"

The couple plan to spend their ten-year anniversary in style thanks to their winnings. Andrew, a construction worker, said, "It's our ten-year anniversary in August and we always said we would go to the Seychelles so I think that might be happening now! The last 15 years we've had family holidays with our lad, but we won't have to feel guilty about leaving him now as he wants a hot tub for the house."

Donna said, "There will be a lot of celebrations and deliveries in the garden tonight!"

When asked to describe how he was feeling in one word, Andrew said, "Tingly!"

An Egyptian Adventure

Anthony, a self-employed surveyor, was another happy winner. When his cheque was revealed he said, "Oh my god! That is amazing! I don’t even know what to say. I'm feeling very optimistic with life. It's just brilliant. This has really brightened my day up. I don't win many things in my life and when I do it's a CD or something!"

Anthony added, "It's a great surprise in life to get. It couldn't have come at a better time. This year has been pretty bad as you know so this is very nice with everything going on."

Anthony plans to spend the win on a dream holiday, and on his 15-year-old son. Anthony said, "I'll definitely be treating my friends and family. The first thing my son said was a coat, which will probably be few hundred pounds, but I think on this occasion I can get him it."

On holiday plans, Anthony said "Egypt is somewhere I would love to visit. I've always wanted to see the pyramids!"

Anthony's win is going to allow him to ease back on working and take a little time for himself. He said, "I work hard, too hard people tell me! Moving forward I want to make more time for myself and relax which this will really help with."

Absolutely Wonderful Win

Valerie, who works part-time in a primary school, was over the moon when she found out how much she'd won. She said, "Really?! Seriously?! Oh my god. It's not real! It's absolutely wonderful, just amazing. It's something to look forward to! I can't wait until lockdown is over so I can go out and spend."

"There's no-one else here to pinch me so I'll need to pinch myself. It's a bizarre time for everyone but this is very bizarre too!"

When asked how she would spend her winnings, Valerie said "I'll get a lot of haircuts when I can! It sounds a bit daft, but a greenhouse would be nice. I was supposed to share an allotment with my daughter but then lockdown started, so I've been stockpiling stuff in the garden. Actually, let's go big - a jacuzzi or a hot tub!"

Valerie added, "I have a lovely family who are really supportive so it will make a big difference. My grandson has just turned eight, so this is a great birthday present. When the shops get going and the restaurants open there will be treats!"

She joked "I need a drink! That's the first thing I'm going to do!"

Street Prize Presenter Danyl Johnson said, "A huge congratulations to all of our winners in Leeds. It sounds like there will be a few hot tubs being delivered soon! I hope everyone celebrates and enjoys their prize money."

Charities Win Too

Our players are raising funds for charities and good causes across Britain and around the world. To date, People's Postcode Lottery players have raised more than £500 Million for over 7,500 deserving projects and organisations.

Today's prize is part of a draw promoted by Cats Protection. Thanks to players, this wonderful charity has received over £2.2 Million. This funding has helped cover the costs of looking after cats while they wait to be rehomed, and supported the charity's advocacy work in making a better world for cats.
