Street Prize
Tidy Sum For Kirkham
One lucky Kirkham resident got a very exciting visit when Street Prize Presenter Judie McCourt arrived at her door with a cheque for £30,000.
The postcode PR4 2UE was drawn as the winner of our Saturday Street Prize this week, landing Belinda Marshall the prize money.
Belinda makes and decorates cakes for a living, and thinks she will find a property to lease for the business with her prize money. "I nearly fell over when I saw the cheque! I've become a celebrity in my little town and everyone has been telling me to find a shop to sell my cakes in so it seems like now is the perfect time to do it. I've never been abroad either, so I'll probably treat my two sons and daughter to a holiday in Cyprus."
Judie McCourt said, "I'm delighted for Belinda and her family. At first she thought the cheque was for £3,000, I had to tell her it was actually for £30,000! I hope she has a great time spending her winnings and treating her family."
As a charity lottery, a minimum of 30% of the ticket price goes to charities. To date, players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised over £221 Million for more than 2,800 good causes across Great Britain and internationally.
A local charity in the area which has received support from players is Preston and District Samaritans, which was awarded £20,000 to improve the building and facilities for those who use the service.
Judie also visited a lucky winner in Blackburn, as their postcode BB2 6LJ, was drawn as Sunday's Street Prize winner.
