Tidy Sum For Cottenham

14 January - CB24 8UP - Cottenham - £30,000

One lucky Cottenham resident has gotten the year off to a great start after scooping £30,000 thanks to her lucky postcode!

Sandra Unsworth, who plays with the postcode CB24 8UP, won People's Postcode Lottery's Street Prize today.

Sandra, who is an accounts manager, says she is still in shock over the win.

"Winning such a large amount of money is the sort of thing you never think will actually happen to you! What an amazing way to start the year – I think 2017 is going to be a good one."

"My car broke down this weekend – It must have known! So a new car is definitely in order. The best thing is that now I don't need to worry about costs like this cropping up."

Sandra is also going to celebrate her win with a relaxing trip to Tenerife with her husband Ted.

Street Prize Presenter Jeff Brazier said, "It was fantastic to meet Sandra and present her with her cheque; I hope she has a brilliant holiday. Players of People's Postcode Lottery support charities too, which is another great reason to play."

To date, more than £168 Million has been raised by players of People's Postcode Lottery for over 2,800 good causes across Great Britain and internationally.

A player-supported charity local to Cottenham is Wintercare for the Homeless, which was awarded over £7,500 last year to provide welfare services, such as hot meals and showers, for homeless people in the area.

There was another lucky £30,000 winner this weekend, as the second Street Prize landed in Hendon on Sunday.
