Street Prize

Cheers For Chesterfield

14 November 2015 - S41 0BT - Chesterfield - £25,000
Our lucky Chesterfield winners with their whopping Street Prize cheques

This weekend, we've got a trio of winners in Chesterfield picking up whopping cheques with our Saturday Street Prize. First up, a retired couple are now planning a major road trip in their beloved caravan after scooping an amazing £50,000.

Margaret Voss and husband Graham won the cash when their postcode, S41 0BT, was drawn as a winner. "Thanks to People's Postcode Lottery we are going to hit the road in our caravan next year for three separate trips," she said." Our first stop will be France, then Spain and after that we will fly out to Australia where we'll hire a motorhome to tour the Gold Coast."

The couple usually spend 120 nights a year in their four-year-old caravan, which is 26ft long and comes with all mod cons.

"What we really need is a new car to tow the caravan so now we will be able to afford a Volvo," added Margaret. "I nearly fainted when the cheque came out of the envelope. I saw a number five and then lots of noughts and Graham had to steady me. It's wonderful!"

But Margaret and Graham weren't the only winners in the lucky Chesterfield postcode. Retired Christine Pick, who also lives on Lee Road, only signed up to play People's Postcode Lottery one month ago. She was presented with a cheque for £25,000"What a lovely surprise!" she said. "I can't believe I've won all this money. I think I will play with two tickets now."

Christine and her husband Tony are going to treat their daughter Lisa, and grandchildren Megan and Nathan, to a family holiday at Haggerston Castle next year. "We wanted to go somewhere the kids would enjoy," she said. "After that, Tony and I are planning to go on a cruise around Scotland's Highlands and Islands. My dad was from Banff so it'll be nice to get back to my Scottish roots."

Last but by no means least, married mother-of-one Rachael Alberici also scooped £25,000. The Post Officer worker can't wait to spoil her little boy Luca.

"I want to give Luca a Christmas he won't forget," she said. "My husband Marc and I are going to take Luca and his step-sister to Europe to visit some festive markets and hopefully we'll pick up a few treats from Santa. Maybe Santa will bring us a new car too."

Rachael, who only moved to the area a few years ago, says winning the lottery has helped her get to know her neighbours.

Rachael said, "I haven't really had a chance to meet many people yet, but this has been a real ice breaker. Neighbours have been coming up to me in the street and congratulating me on the win, which has been lovely."

People's Postcode Lottery players have raised over £91 Million for charities across Great Britain and internationally. Some of the funded projects near this weekend's winners include Ashfield Road Allotment Association, which received £2,000, and the Woodland View Dementia Support, which received £2,000 to create special sensory events.

People's Postcode Lottery ambassador Judie McCourt, who presented the cheques to the winners, said: "I had such a lovely day in Chesterfield. It was clear to see how much winning meant to everyone. It's great to be able to give players such an amazing prize."
